KOMEG Compact Thermal Shock Chambers consist of two separately controlled hot and cold zones with product being transferred between these zones for rapid product temperature changes. These thermal shock chambers are available from 70 or 500 liters of interior workspace volume, ideal for testing to find product flaws in small components/assemblies before they reach your customer..
 
As we know that thermal shock occurs when a thermal gradient causes different parts of an object to expand by different amounts. This differential expansion can be understood in terms of stress or of strain, equivalently. At some point, this stress can exceed the strength of the material, causing a crack to form. If nothing stops this crack from propagating through the material, it will cause the object's structure to fail. Normally we use thermal shock test equipment to test how much amount can a product withstand thermal shock.

KOMEG offer a complete range of Thermal Shock test chambers that meet the requirements of all the standards test specifications including MIL standards. The chambers are supplied in various sizes as standard and can be supplied with either cascade refrigeration systems.

The thermal shock chambers are supplied with a fully programmable controller for complete cycle programming. The chamber has the two compartments fitted vertically with the hot chamber at the top and cold chamber underneath. The basket is moved between the compartments by a basket operated between hot and cold chamber, it is fitted with seals to ensure minimal transfer of temperature between the compartments.

Refrigeration System:
A Two Stage cascade cooling refrigeration system working on Environmentally friendly refrigerants is fitted to allow for chamber cooling . The refrigeration system is fitted with an air cooled condenser designed for continuous and trouble free operation, with water cooled condenser as an option.
The refrigeration system consists of refrigeration compressors, expansion valve, soleniod valves, oil seperator with automatic oil return, hot gas defrost system and safety features like HP/LP cut off switches, overload protection, back up fuse protection, MCBs etc.

Control Instrumentation:
The chamber will be fitted with a microprocessor Self tune PID type dual loop Temperature Controller/Programmer with a PT-100 sensor for measurement and control and indication of temperature. This can used to program different test cycles as required by the test standards, and can be used to program basket dwell times (up to 999hrs) and number of transfer cycles. The programmer/controller produced from Korea.

Over temperature safety cut off thermostat fitted with audiovisual alarm.
Overload protector for compressor and motor.
HP/LP cut off switch for compressor.
